Maths
At Goosewell, we use the National Curriculum for England to plan and deliver our Maths lessons. Which aims to ensure all children become fluent in Mathematics, reason mathematically and solve problems.
In the Foundation Stage, we use the ‘Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)’ document which sets the non-statutory standards for early years providers to follow. This helps us to ensure continuity and progression from the Foundation Stage through to the National Curriculum.
Within all of our Maths planning at Goosewell, we seek to provide suitable learning opportunities for all children by matching the challenge of the task to the ability of each child. With the move towards a mastery based curriculum we emphasize acquiring deeper knowledge within Maths lessons by providing rich and sophisticated problems which involve children explaining their reasoning.
All staff endeavour to reinforce that all children can achieve in Maths. We seek to provide suitable learning opportunities to inspire an interest and enjoyment in Maths for all children. All staff has high expectations that every child at Goosewell can achieve their full potential in Maths.
We pride ourselves on the links that are made between our topics in order to create motivating, purposeful and exciting learning opportunities for your children.
